Bath, North Carolina
Bath, North Carolina is a lovely, quaint historic village built on a peninsula offering residents breathtaking sunsets, lazy summer days, and year round activities on the beautiful creeks, rivers and sounds of Eastern North Carolina.

Bath is the oldest incorporated town in North Carolina dating its incorporation to 1705. It is a North Carolina State Historic Site. Bath is the home of the famous pirate, Blackbeard, as well as Saint Thomas Episcopal Church, the oldest remaining church building in the State of North Carolina built in 1734.

The enormous expanse of navigable water in the Sound, rivers, coves, and inlets that provided safe haven for the colonial privateers provides the unique tidewater setting for residents today.

Bath has two marinas providing docking and mooring services for yachts, both motor and sail, and is within fifteen miles of the Intercoastal Waterway providing safe inland passage for yachts from Virginia to Florida. The sailing season extends ten months.

NEIGHBORING AREA

  Belhaven, North Carolina - 17 miles E.
Belhaven is another historic river town. Belhaven, as the name implies, is a beautiful haven for boaters.  The town is the first port from the Inland Waterway.  There are docking facilities and boat yards that attract boaters from the Waterway. 

Pungo District Hospital is located in Belhaven.  It is a 40 bed hospital with fine operating room facilities and a respiratory rehabilitation facility.

 

  

  Washington, North Carolina - 18 miles W.
Washington is a “river town” built along the Pamlico River with a beautiful public waterfront. It has a population of slightly less than 10,000.

Washington is a thriving community.  Washington has a regional airport, a highly regarded Beaufort County Hospital and Cancer Center, one of the leading community colleges in the State and a State Estuarium. Washington is also an historic, federal period town with a large inventory of historic buildings.

Washington is a very social community as well.  The Greater Washington/Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce, the Committee of 100 economic development engine and the merchants maintain a year-round schedule of festivals, monthly “Music in the Streets”, "Pickin on the Pamilico", theater performances, art shows and a major annual Waterfowl and Decoy Festival. 

There was a question asked of a Washington resident who moved to Charleston, South Carolina. “What makes Washington so great?”  He responded, “Every weekend someone in Washington has a cocktail party and 1,500 people show up!”

  Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina - 125 miles NW.
Raleigh, NC is the capital of the "Old Tarheel State" and is named after Sir Walter Raleigh. It hosts a major air transportation hub, Raleigh/Durham International Airport, offering regular flights to Europe and other international destinations.
